Privacy

This site collects as little as it can. There is no account system, no newsletter and no advertising network.

What is stored

  • Server logs. The hosting server records IP addresses, requested pages and browser details for a short period for security and error-checking, as every web server does.
  • Age confirmation. Confirming you are over 18 sets a cookie and a browser-storage flag so the question is not asked again on every page.
  • Reader votes. Voting on a series stores your score in your browser so the stars stay lit, and sends the score to this site’s server together with a one-way hash derived from your IP address, kept for 30 days to prevent duplicate votes. No account, name or email is involved.

Links to Candy.ai

Buttons and links that lead to Candy carry an affiliate identifier in the address. Candy uses it to attribute sign-ups to this site. What Candy.ai does with your data once you arrive is governed by Candy’s own privacy policy, not this one.

Fonts

Typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests files from Google’s servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request.

Your rights

Under GDPR and similar laws you can ask what this site holds about you, or ask for it to be deleted. Given the above, the answer is usually nothing beyond a hashed vote record, but the request will be honoured either way. Use the contact page.
