Grace, said by the wrong person

Mum announces that the nun she mentioned has arrived and will be staying until Sunday. Her son opens the door, takes one look, and loses the ability to speak in full sentences. The guest is polite to a fault, tells him he is kinder than the boys at the parish, and compliments dinner in a way that makes everyone at the table pause. Then she is asked to lead the prayer.

The prayer is the series. She asks for help to be kind with her hands and to trust whatever wants to happen that night. The son stares at his plate. The episode closes on a second, private prayer asking forgiveness in advance. Two speeches to God, both spoken aloud at a family table, and the story has told you everything without a single scene you could not show your grandmother.

What Sunday means

The next morning both of them know what the other heard through the wall, and neither says so directly. Mum, oblivious, instructs the guest to go through her son for anything she needs. Alone, the nun finally explains the calendar: on Sunday she takes her vows, and from then on everything she has never done becomes something she never will. She has, in other words, a list and a deadline. The episode ends before she reads it out.

Candy tags the series nympho and taboo, which is technically accurate and tonally wrong: what the open half sets up is a countdown story with a built-in clock and a mother in the next room. Who should unlock it

Anyone who wants atmosphere with their transgression. It is slower than Veronica’s Fitting Room and less silent than Room 742, and the dinner-table writing is the most assured on the platform. If religious imagery is a hard no for you, the poster has already told you so.
