Someone has gone under. She hauls him out, gets him breathing, and compliments him on taking direction. He got in over his head, she tells him, which happens to a lot of men around her. Before he can learn her name the club manager arrives with an introduction: this is the new cabana boy, her husband’s nephew, so everyone is to be very welcoming. Sophie volunteers to supervise him personally rather than lose him to the deck crew.
The manager’s warning is the series in miniature: keep it professional, she knows exactly how much trouble he can be. Sophie’s answer is to ask him what he wants to learn. There is, she says, a lot she could teach a guy like him over a summer.
Episode 2 · freeWater safety certification
A colleague catches them mid-conversation at shift change and, rather than report them, asks to be dealt in. Get in line, Sophie tells her. Then the first official lesson: every staffer has to be certified in water safety, which means CPR, which means mouth-to-mouth, and she signs off on the training personally. He lies down as the patient. Firm, steady, commit to the rhythm. When he asks whether this is really club policy, she admits she may just enjoy having him on his back. The episode ends there, sun still high.

Viewers who want the licensed line without the household framing every other creator series uses. There is no stepmother, no stepsister and no wedding here, just a beach, a job and a woman who has decided how the summer is going to go. It is not the most ambitious series on Candy, but it is the easiest to enjoy.
